Perodua revisits Selayang Hospital, contributes equipment, refurbishes play area
Selayang, 18 Nov: In its latest Corporate Responsibility initiative, Perodua earlier today revisited Selayang Hospital’s paediatric ward to contribute medical equipment and distribute goodies to patients and staff.
The children’s play area has also been given a new look – Perodua volunteers cleaned the area, painted the cabinets, replaced the wallpaper and ceiling, installed a smart TV and new flooring as well as bought some new books and toys.
Perodua contributed to the ward a pulse oximeter (oxygen measurement device) and three portable screens, as well as distributed money packets and gift bags containing stationery to around 100 child patients.
“As a People First company and a caring brand, Perodua is always looking for long-term and sustainable ways we can help and contribute to the people,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
The refurbished play area features graphics with safety and environmental themes – topics which Perodua is passionate about. It plans to educate the child patients about safety and the environment through various activities in the coming years.
“Our efforts do not stop here – we have lots of activities planned for the children in the coming years, including story-telling, movie screenings, puzzle games and origami. We are also looking at doing a book donation drive to populate the play area’s library,” Dato’ Zainal said.
“This is our small way of thanking the Selayang Hospital paediatric ward staff for their dedication and efforts in caring for the children, and for all the child patients here, we hope we can make their days a little brighter and their smiles a little wider,” he added.
Perodua last visited Selayang Hospital in February, when it contributed three pulse oximeters and six portable screens, as well as distributed money packets and gift bags to patients and staff.

Ipoh, 20 Oct: The Badminton Talent Development Programme (BTDP), a collaborative effort between the Malaysian Education Ministry (MOE) and Perodua, has reached the pinnacle of its second year with 14 young national champions.
The National Finals, which took place at Arena Badminton Perak in Ipoh from 17-20 October, saw 224 finalists from all over Malaysia fiercely compete in 11 categories over four days for national glory.
“Jointly launched by Perodua and MOE in February 2018, the BTDP is a five-year nationwide human capital development programme that aims to find and cultivate future Malaysian badminton talent amongst primary schoolchildren, in the hope that they can play for our country one day,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
Like the first year, the 2019 programme kicked off in March with 140 coaches training 2,800 primary schoolchildren at 70 identified badminton development centres nationwide.
However, where there were only eight categories last year involving 9- to 11-year olds, this year introduced 12-year olds – made up of last year’s 11-year olds – in three additional categories: boys’ singles, girls’ singles and for the first time, mixed doubles.
The student athletes progressed through competitions at centre and state/federal territory levels to get to the National Finals.
“The great thing about the BTDP is that it doesn’t just focus on the student athletes’ capabilities on court. During training, we also try to instil in them values such as respect, discipline, determination, sportsmanship, punctuality, humility and cleanliness of self as well as surroundings.
“Most of all, we encourage them to live a balanced lifestyle of sports, studies and family in equal measure. We believe it’s best to start young,” Dato’ Zainal said.
“Some of these children don’t come from well-to-do families and had never even touched a badminton racquet before this. As a proudly Malaysian, People First company, Perodua is very happy to be working with the MOE to potentially change the lives of these children.
“They have been given the chance to represent their schools, states and soon, our country – like we did last year, we hope to fly our young champions to Tokyo early next year to go up against their counterparts from Japan and Indonesia at the 3 Countries Junior Badminton Competition, hosted and organised by Daihatsu Motor Company of Japan.
“Perodua congratulates and thanks all student athletes for taking part in BTDP 2019. Your resilience, skills and potential are evident. We and the nation are proud of you all and confident that you will go on to achieve greatness,” he added.
Program Pembangunan Bakat Badminton tahun kedua hasilkan 14 juara muda
Tahun lepas, hanya lapan kategori dipertandingkan melibatkan atlet murid berumur 9 hingga 11 tahun.

Kuala Lumpur, 30 Aug: Perodua is working together with a Malaysian government agency to educate the public on maintaining a cleaner environment, starting with the nation’s roads.
Earlier today, the carmaker collaborated with the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) – an agency under the purview of the Housing and Local Government Ministry – on the latter’s 1:0 ‘One Vehicle, Zero Litter’ campaign to discourage littering from vehicles.
The campaign saw volunteers from Perodua and SWCorp give away 500 in-vehicle mini-bins to motorists at a petrol station next to the Jalan Duta toll plaza on the PLUS Highway KL-bound, reminding them to bring their litter home instead of throwing it out of their vehicles.
The volunteers also held up colourful placards displaying anti-littering messages, while prominently-placed banners and buntings duly caught the attentions of motorists exiting the toll plaza.
“Perodua shares the government’s vision for a cleaner and greener Malaysia. We believe a combination of education and enforcement will have a lasting impact on our society,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
“It is Perodua’s hope that as Malaysia enters her 62nd year of independence, we can all play our part in showing the maturity of our mindsets and allowing cleanliness to be part of our lives.
“We hope Malaysians can reduce, reuse and recycle their waste as far as possible. We all have to start somewhere. After our own homes, the car is the next place we spend the most time in, and if we can keep our cars clean, the rest of our lives will follow,” he added.
Within Perodua’s headquarters and manufacturing campus in Sungai Choh are its Laman Hijau recreational common and its 1,500-square metre ECO Garden, both of which incorporate many sustainable elements. Solar panels and rainwater-harvesting systems also feature on many of its campus buildings.
Perodua is Malaysia’s No 1 Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) manufacturer. It has produced and sold over 680,000 EEVs to date, including the Axia, Bezza, third-generation Myvi and Aruz seven-seater SUV.

Rawang, 19 June: Having launched its Laman Hijau recreational common a mere month ago, Perodua’s green movement shows no signs of slowing as it officially opened its ECO Garden in the heart of its headquarters and manufacturing campus in Sungai Choh yesterday.
“An initiative of Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd President Mr Masanori Takahashi’s, the 1,500-square metre sustainable garden serves as a strong blueprint for Perodua to incorporate eco-friendly practices into both its facilities and operations.
“As a company that operates in an energy- and resource-dependent industry, Perodua wants to change how its products and operations impact the world around us,” Perodua Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said.
“We want to prove that we deeply care for the environment and are constantly looking to make our processes and products more ecologically sustainable,” he added.
The Perodua ECO Garden was officiated yesterday by Selangor Department of Environment Director Tuan Haji Shafe’ee Yasin, acting on behalf of Malaysian Department of Environment Director-General Dato’ Dr Ahmad Kamarulnajuib Che Ibrahim, and Tan Sri Asmat, in conjunction with World Environment Day on 5 June and Perodua’s own ECO Month.
It features a natural forest with a diverse range of flora, a fish and water lily pond that makes use of treated wastewater, a recreational park, a learning centre and an organic herb garden.
Furthermore, the Perodua ECO Garden is constructed largely from recycled manufacturing waste materials, and the lighting and water pumps are entirely powered by solar electricity.
Waste reduction is a key component in the quest for efficiency, which is Perodua’s perpetual goal and which is not limited to our Energy-Efficient Vehicles (EEV). We always strive to ensure every aspect of our operations is as lean, clean and green as it can be.
“A number of our campus buildings already have solar panels and rainwater-harvesting systems, and the installation of a 1 MW solar panel at our test track is expected to finish in July.
“We hope our initiatives will also inspire our employees, the industry and the Malaysian public to continuously pursue a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly way of life. Together, I’m certain we can all make a difference,” said Tan Sri Asmat.
Perodua is Malaysia’s No 1 Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) manufacturer, having produced and sold over 650,000 EEVs to date, including the Axia, Bezza, third-generation Myvi and Aruz seven-seater SUV.

“For the 26 years Perodua has made Selangor our home, we have been able to operate effectively and without distress due to the commendable efforts by the Royal Malaysian Police, particularly IPK Selangor, to maintain public safety, peace and harmony.
“We hope our humble contribution can be accepted by the police as a token of gratitude for their resolute steadfastness, fairness, dedication and courage. We salute you,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
A handover ceremony was held at the Selangor Police Headquarters in Shah Alam on Tuesday, where Dato’ Zainal presented the keys to Selangor Police Chief Commissioner Dato’ Noor Azam Jamaludin.

“The Perodua Bezza makes an ideal patrol car as it is dependable, durable, easy to drive and cost-efficient in terms of servicing as well as fuel economy. Its compactness makes it easy to manoeuvre around tight spaces, and despite its compact size, it is commodious and comfortable inside.
“Factor in the largest vehicle service network in the country and I am confident the police will find the Perodua Bezza an effective and valuable companion in their community policing duties,” Dato’ Zainal said.

Selayang, 4 Feb: Nobody likes to be away from their family and friends during Chinese New Year – more so when you’re a kid. It was with this thought that Perodua revisited Selayang Hospital, bringing the spirit of Chinese New Year to its paediatric ward.
On Saturday, the national carmaker’s 10 volunteers and UFirst mascot Ari distributed angpows and hampers containing string bags and stationery to some 80 child patients, who were then treated to a delicious lunch with smiles of delight on their faces.
“Delivering on Perodua’s long-term charity commitment with Selayang Hospital’s paediatric ward, we hope our humble contributions today managed to evoke the spirit of Chinese New Year in both the children and hardworking staff, who will not be celebrating at home this year.
“Last Chinese New Year, we presented the paediatric ward with three ambu bags (handheld breathing apparatus) and distributed hampers to all the children. We keep in constant touch with Selayang Hospital to learn what they need and want – just like we do with our valued customers.
“We have loads of activities planned for the children over the next few years, including puppet and clown performances, colouring and sing-alongs. Our volunteers will also help to maintain and improve the children’s play area by buying more toys and books as well as decorating and cleaning it,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
Perodua also gave the paediatric ward three pulse oximeters (oxygen measurement device) and six portable screens worth RM12,000 in all. Perodua Executive Chief Engineer Mr Albert Ngu presented the items on behalf of the carmaker to the hospital’s Paediatric Department Head Dr Selva Kumar.
“As a People First company, Perodua wishes all Malaysians a healthy, happy and hearty Chinese New Year. Gong Xi Fa Cai! Ensure your vehicles are in good shape and drive safely, courteously and responsibly home to your loved ones,” Dato’ Zainal added.
Tweckbot, Perodua’s free mobile vehicle inspection team, inspected 125 cars in the run-up to this Chinese New Year. It targets to inspect a total of 1,000 vehicles during festive seasons at selected locations this year.
Tweckbot has helped to ensure the roadworthiness of Perodua vehicles during festive seasons since 2011, giving free 50-point checks to nearly 7,000 vehicles to date.
Perodua menyambut Tahun Baharu Cina bersama pesakit kanak-kanak Hospital Selayang

Rawang, 7 December: In one of its biggest-scale vehicle donations yet, Perodua is contributing a total of 50 Myvis to the Perak State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) as well as 25 higher-learning institutions (HLI) all over the country, to aid them in their research and training.
“We are donating seven current-generation Myvis and 43 previous-generation Myvis to these organisations in the hope that they will be useful in their research, training and education,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.
He was speaking at a symbolic hand-over ceremony held at Perodua’s Sungai Choh headquarters yesterday. Bearing witness was Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.
The said 25 HLIs comprise universities as well as vocational, technical, industrial training and youth skills institutes.
“As a People First company, Perodua has always believed in empowering youth through education, as they are Malaysia’s future leaders and future drivers of the local automotive industry.
“Some of our many educational initiatives include the Perodua Eco Challenge and the Perodua Youth Training Programme, which is our longest-running Corporate Responsibility programme, having produced over 630 graduates since 1999,” said the President and CEO.
This year, Perodua graduated 141 candidates that it trained in collaboration with the Human Resources Ministry’s Department of Skills Development (JPK) towards receiving Malaysian Skills Certification (SKM) for technical and vocational competence.
Over 70% of them will take on roles at Perodua service and Body & Paint centres across the nation.
“With over a million units sold since its 2005 birth, the Myvi has been Malaysia’s most popular vehicle for the past 13 years. It is therefore the perfect vehicle for local research and training as it is the most accurate representation of a vehicle on Malaysian roads,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar added.
The Perodua Myvi recently won an award in the Entry-Level Segment at the 2018 Malaysia Car of the Year Awards, hosted by the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI).

“Sebagai syarikat People First, Perodua gigih memperkasakan golongan belia melalui pendidikan, kerana merekalah bakal pemimpin Malaysia dan peneraju masa hadapan industri automotif tempatan.

Prai, 19 Nov: As part of its three-year Corporate Responsibility commitment to Shan Children’s Home that began last Deepavali, Perodua returned to the Penang home on Friday to shower its occupants with the love, joy and hope that accompany the Festival of Lights.
In the morning while the children were out at kindergarten or school, 10 Perodua volunteers spring-cleaned and decorated the premises, and crafted a beautiful kolam (colourful powder art) at the entrance. Greeted by Perodua UFirst mascot Ken, the kids were truly surprised and overjoyed when they got home.
Perodua gave the home an industrial oven plus other baking equipment and ingredients, worth over RM5,000 in all. The carmaker had earlier this year arranged a bread-making class for the children – today’s contribution follows up on that by opening up the possibility for them to commercialise their baked goods.
As a truly People First company, Perodua believes in sustainable charity; hence this long-term sustainability project with Shan Children’s Home. Having previously taught these children to bake, we now furnish them with apparatus they can use to do small-scale baking.
“We will then give them guidance on how to market their goods. This approach is two-pronged. One, we hope their takings can alleviate some of the home’s costs, if not support itself fully. Two, we want to encourage the children to develop entrepreneurial skill and thinking,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.
“Shan Children’s Home nurtures 20 bright young children between the ages of 5 and 15. I see great potential in them all and hope they can make some money of their own through the education and equipment we have provided. Malaysia’s future leaders and entrepreneurs all have to start somewhere, and we hope it is here for them!” he added.
Perodua also gave the home a RM3,000 cash contribution and money packets to each child and houseparent. The children were then treated to afternoon tea and a fun sand art activity, with their smiles never leaving their faces.
“At the heart of Deepavali is the triumph of light over darkness and hope over despair. We at Perodua sincerely hope we have succeeded in bringing that spirit to the lovely residents of Shan Children’s Home. We pray that they will be happy always and filled with optimism for the future,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.
Perodua menceriakan Rumah Kanak-Kanak Shan sempena Deepavali

Johor Bahru, 21 Oct: The Badminton Talent Development Programme (BTDP), a five-year collaboration between Perodua and the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE), has wrapped up its first year with the conclusion of its national finals at EduCity Sports Complex, Iskandar Puteri today.
Hard-fought from 18-21 October amongst 128 finalists from primary schools across the country, the national finals led to singles champions Lim Jun Lee (Pahang) and Wong Au Mel (Kuala Lumpur) for under-9, Lim Boon Le (Pahang) and Saidatul Saadiah Muhammad (Sabah) for under-10, and Loh Ziheng (Kedah) and Shaneesa Shahidi (Melaka) for under-11, for boys and girls respectively.
Doubles, which were solely contested by under-11s throughout, were won by Kee Is Qian and Loh Ziheng (Kedah) for boys, and Dania Avriel Alviera Azif and Dania Sofea (Johor) for girls.
“The BTDP was jointly launched with Perodua in February to find and develop badminton talents amongst primary school children, in the hope that they would one day represent the nation in a sport that is so irrevocably close to the hearts of Malaysians.
“Now, 2,800 children, 140 coaches, 70 badminton development centres, four tournament stages and eight months later, we have 10 young national champions we can all be proud of,” Education Minister YB Dr Maszlee Malik said.
Attending the closing and prize-giving ceremony on his behalf was MOE Sports Director Dr Mehander Singh Nahar Singh. Also present were Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, Perodua management and representatives from Daihatsu Motor Company of Japan.
“As a proudly Malaysian company with the slogan Building Cars People First, Perodua is always eager to be involved in activities and initiatives that benefit and make a difference to the rakyat,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.
“When I saw that many of these children were not from well-to-do families and had never even touched a badminton racquet prior to this, but now are highly competent amongst their peers, I knew we had a great partner in the MOE to potentially change the lives of these children.
“They have been given the chance to represent their schools, districts and states, and it is our hope that they will go on to proudly bear the Jalur Gemilang at regional and international competitions,” he added.
“The BTDP is a holistic educational endeavour. Besides promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, participants develop camaraderie, sportsmanship, respect and a competitive spirit throughout the programme. Said values cannot always be acquired in the classroom,” said YB Dr Maszlee.
“To the 9- and 10-year olds, we hope you will join again next year. To the 11-year olds, we hope you will build upon the skills and experience gained here and take your game to the next level and beyond.
“The talent, dedication and potential I see here, and from such a young age, give me great hope for the future of Malaysian badminton, and I cannot wait to see a return to the glory days,” YB Dr Maszlee added.

Rawang, 1 Oct: Some 2,800 primary school students nationwide took part in the inaugural Badminton Talent Development Programme (BTDP) this year, which will see 128 students compete at the national finals in three weeks’ time.
Jointly launched in February by Perodua and the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE), the BTDP is a five-year nationwide human capital development programme that aims to find and cultivate future Malaysian badminton talents amongst school children aged between 9 and 11.
“Having completed competitions within each of the 70 identified Badminton Development Centres in July and between districts in August, the tournaments at state/federal territory level are now almost complete,” said Perodua Auto Corporation Vice-President Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, who also heads the BTDP committee for Perodua.
“As of today, 14 of the 16 state/federal territory tournaments have concluded, and we welcome the public to visit the remaining competitions and show their support for our talented young ones,” he added.
The remaining state/federal territory competitions are Johor (5-6 Oct at Gelanggang Persatuan Badminton Johor, Johor Bahru) and Sarawak (6-7 Oct at Dewan SMK Tinggi Sarikei).
“I have to say I am generally impressed by the children’s capabilities and standard of play, given that many of them have never played badminton before.
“Perodua is proud to join forces with the MOE in not only introducing them to the sport, but growing their interest in it and unearthing talent they never knew they had,” Dato’ Zainal added.
According to En Maszuhairi Shafi’i, proud father of 9-year old student at SK Putrajaya Presint 14 (1) Muhammad Fayyard Darwisy, the BTDP has brought considerable benefits to his son.
“Fayyard had never played badminton before and wasn’t very keen at the beginning. As training progressed he became more and more interested, and I am glad that he’s embraced the sport. The coaches have done a great job.
“Children are becoming more and more glued to digital screens these days. This initiative by Perodua and the MOE encourages them to take part in an active, healthy and sporting activity, and I think that’s very good,” said En Maszuhairi.
“It is our earnest hope that the children will build upon what they have gained here and continue taking their badminton skills to the next level and beyond, so they can hopefully one day bear the Jalur Gemilang in regional and international competitions,” said Dato’ Zainal.
The tournaments are played in eight categories– under-9 singles, under-10 singles, under-11 singles and under-11 doubles, with each divided into boys and girls.
The eight winners from each of the 16 states/federal territories (128 in all) will duke it out at the national finals from 18 to 21 October at the EduCity Sports Complex, Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

Kulim, 13 Aug: Perodua has launched its very own Zero Accident Campaign for its 10,300 employees nationwide as the next phase of the compact carmaker’s Road Safety Campaign launched in October 2017 to help reduce accidents on the road.
Under the Perodua Zero Accident Campaign, Perodua is aiming for zero road accidents involving its staff travelling to and from their respective workplaces as well as zero industrial accidents while performing their respective duties by the year 2021.
“This Perodua Zero Accident Campaign is our first nationwide initiative among our staff, involving our manufacturing, sales and after-sales network, to set an example by being good drivers,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.
The Perodua Zero Accident Campaign is supported by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) or better known under its Malay acronym, PERKESO. Both organisations are under the Ministry of Human Resources.
“While reduction and even elimination of industry-related accidents has always been the core focus of our Occupational, Health and Safety rules, we are now expanding that focus to include travel outside our premises.
“We believe the cultivation of good driving habits begins at home and we want to inculcate as much education on safe and responsible driving into our staff so that they would be a good example to all,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.
The Perodua Zero Accident Campaign will be launched in stages beginning 13 August until the end of the year. Datuk (Dr) Aminar said that Perodua hopes to take learning points from this Perodua Zero Accident Campaign and integrate it into the larger five-year Perodua Road Safety Campaign.
The Perodua Road Safety Campaign aims to reduce road accidents by educating drivers of the need to understand and obey basic road rules and courtesies such as the importance of wearing seatbelts, why child car seats are essential, the significance of using directional indicators and why mobile devices are a driver’s worst enemy.
“We use education as the approach because we believe most Malaysian drivers are aware of the rules and courtesies but may not understand the reasons behind them. Education will certainly take longer but once they fully understand the reasons behind the rules, the impact will be stronger,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.
The Perodua Zero Accident Campaign was officiated by Datuk (Dr) Aminar and was witnessed by DOSH Kedah Director En Hairozie Asri, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin and Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd President Datuk Ahmad Suhaimi Hashim, who is also Chairman of the Perodua Group Safety Committee.

Rawang, 13 June: Perodua has initiated a month-long road safety programme for some 8,000 of its staff, of which nearly 7,000 are bound to travel to their respective hometowns this Raya season.
The month-long initiative is to remind road users of basic rules while on the road as well as safety tips that would save precious time and money while making the long journey to meet their loved ones.
“The journey home can be a challenging one as there are many vehicles on the roads. During such a time, it is important that we stay cool, alert and courteous while driving or riding,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.
The safety programme is part of Perodua’s on-going Road Safety Campaign initiative launched in October 2017, a five-year safety project aimed at educating the public about the importance of abiding by basic road rules.
The core of this programme is to encourage the use of seat belts, turn signals, child seats and for drivers to not use their mobile devices while driving.
We believe education should begin at home, which is why the Perodua Road Safety Campaign is mainly centred on educating our people on the importance of their vehicles’ safety equipment as well as making good driving habits second nature to them.
“We believe in leading by example and hope that all Malaysian drivers will accept our invitation to make Malaysian roads the safest in the region,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.
Perodua’s holistic internal safety programme kicked off a month ago with training by the Malaysian Road and Transportation Safety Association on 15 and 16 May. A total of 69 employees were educated on various safety topics including major causes of accidents and proper vehicle pre-check procedures.
Also, to make sure motorcycles belonging to staff were in good working order before the Raya holidays, free inspections were carried out on 6 June. A total of 47 bikes were checked, with the owners of those having incomplete or defective equipment told to go and rectify the faults.
Externally, Perodua’s Tweckbot mobile car inspection service successfully carried out free pre-Raya 50-point checks on 380 Perodua vehicles in total at Tesco Kota Bharu from 12-14 May and at a Petronas station in Kota Kinabalu.
Tweckbot will be at Petronas Sungai Buloh PLUS R&R on 23 and 24 June for post-Raya checks, offering as always a 20% discount on parts and accessories to all inspected vehicles that return to Perodua service branches and dealers.
“For our valued customers, please service your Perodua vehicle at the most convenient Perodua service centre near you.
We wish all Muslims Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin and to the rest, happy holidays and have a safe journey to your respective destinations,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.

Besides monetary contributions, on 6 June Perodua participated in the World Quran Hour programme, a Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) initiative to encourage interaction with the Al-Quran through ‘Read, Understand and Practice’.
The campaign serves as a platform for solidarity amongst Muslims worldwide under the auspices of the Al-Quran, with the spirit and blessings of the last 10 days of Ramadan.
“This is the second year we are taking part in this programme and Alhamdulillah, it has been well-received,” Datuk (Dr) Aminar said.

“We wish to acknowledge and thank the selfless staff of the Sabah Women and Children Hospital for their services to the people,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer YBhg Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.
Together with Lego Malaysia, Perodua brought smiles to some 250 child patients by giving them the gift of play. Each was given a Lego playset along with other goodies by Perodua volunteers.
“Perodua takes this opportunity to wish KotobianTadauTagazo Do Kaamatan to all who celebrate. May this festival bring us all closer together, and we hope for a harvest just as plentiful next year,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.
Over on the peninsular, Perodua recently returned to Shan Children’s Home in Perai, Penang with a team of 10 volunteers from outlets in Penang and Kedah.
The carmaker first visited Shan Children’s Home on the eve of Deepavali last year, when it contributed over RM20,000 in the form of goods and cash and announced its commitment to a three-year Corporate Responsibility programme with the home.
This time, Perodua arranged a bread-making class for the home’s 19 children, which they found entertaining and educational. The volunteers also helped with some spring cleaning and handed out soft toys to the children, making their day.
“There are so many ways we can help these children. Material and monetary help is welcome, but both are finite. By engaging the children in educational activities like this, we hope to equip them with skills and knowledge that will benefit them throughout their lifetime,” said Datuk (Dr) Aminar.
